FASTPASSing past lines!

Most visitors try to get the most rides crammed into the day, so a way to help with this is the FASTPASS system, saving hours in lines. Note with a FASTPASS, you do not have to return to the ride exactly between the times given, look at the return time and return ANY time during the day after that. Also note on the very bottom of the FASTPASS where it tells you when you can receive another FASTPASS, depending on the ride, you can get another pass before the return time of the first one.

Specific notes about touring FASTPASS attractions in Disneyland follow:

· Obtain FASTPASSes for Star Tours, Space Mountain, and Splash Mountains early in the day as practical. (these lines, especially in the summer, tend to have the longest lines.)
·  Getting Space Mountain FASTPASS requires a bit of work. You must head down the cooridor towards the attraction's entrance on the lower level past Pizza Port to find the FASTPASS machines.
· FASTPASS enables you to postpone a wet ride like Splash Mountain to a warmer part of the day.
· At Roger Rabbit the FASTPASS return time will often be about the same as (or better than) the wait in the standby queue. It also does not affect your ability to get other FASTPASSes, so use it unless the wait is extremely short.
· The FASTPASS tickets at Disneyland are distributed independently of the FASTPASS tickets at California Adventure. This means that you can ignore the "another FASTPASS will be available at" time on a Disneyland FASTPASS while at California Adventure, and vice versa.
· Haunted Mansion FASTPASSes are available from October to December when the Haunted Mansion is decorated for the holidays. (the FASTPASS kiosks are located to the left of the Haunted Mansion towards the Train Station)
· Due to its long queue, your wait in line when using FASTPASS at Indiana Jones may be longer than expected, and you will not discover this until after you have given your FASTPASS ticket to a cast member, since the line is inside the “temple” and unseen from the outside of the ride)
· The FASTPASS machines for Autopia are located on a raised platform to the right of the attraction entrance. Also, the amount of line remaining after FASTPASS guest are merged into the standard attraction queue is comparatively long. Expect to wait a bit, even with FASTPASS.
· FASTPASS machines for Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters were repurposed for Star Tours In summer of 2011.
· Splash Mountain, Matterhorn, and Indiana Jones Adventure have single rider lines. If you do not mind having each member of your party ride in a separate vehicle, this can save you time without using FASTPASS.

Ride Profile: Haunted Mansion

“Dear Foolish Mortals, You are hereby invited to a spirited tour via "buggy" of the home and estate of a prosperous yet departed sea captain whose elegant 19th-century mansion in the New Orleans Square was once the setting for some of the most prominent social gatherings this side of the Mississippi.” One of Disneyland’s top 10 rides (as voted in the LA Times), the Haunted Mansion fun begins even before stepping into your buggy. If you have to wait in the queue pay special attention to the tombstones, as they can be very entertaining. Once you actually get into the house, guests gather into a room, where you soon realize that there are no windows and no doors, and the famous “ghost speech” is given. As with most Disney rides, the attention to detail is phenomenal! Do not rush to get to the ride itself, take not of the changing pictures and special statues in the hallway. When you do get into your buggy, the safety rail is magically lowered as you ...

World of Color

One of my absolute favorite things to view is World of Color. A combination of water, pyrotechnics and a lot of magic brings the Paradise Lagoon in California Adventure to life every evening! More than 1,000 water jets form screens and shapes that animations are projected onto. Although I have seen the show dozens of times, it never gets old, especially because as new Disney movies come out, they are incorporated into the show. If visiting both parks (or just DCA), be sure to get a fatspass for World of Color. The machines are right outside Grizzly Rapids and will have one of four colors (red, yellow, green, and blue), which is your viewing area during the show. Be sure to line up in your  specific area as soon as your fastpass tells you you can. Most people will sit down to wait for the show, which is fine, but be ready to wiggle to the front as people start to stand up. Another great way to get premium seating is through dining specials. Ride Profile: it's a small world

Located in Fantasyland on the far side of the park, “it’s a small world” was originally created for the 1964 world’s Fair, to raise money for UNICEF. Passengers of all ages and heights board a boat and visit South America, Central America, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the South Pacific Islands in a ten-minute voyage.  The famous, catchy song is repeated over and over in the language of the area you are in. Dolls dance and show off attire of that area, and even some Disney character dolls join the fun throughout the ride. Even though it’s a slow, easy going ride, it is a good break to take in the summer as the whole ride is air conditioned and gives your legs a chance to take a break. Every 15 minutes, a parade of dolls in various culture costumes comes out from the base of the iconic clock. As the last doll returns into the clock, the parade doors close and the large central doors open to reveal two giant toy blocks—the large block displays the hour, the small one ...
