Ride Profile: Matterhorn Bobsleds



When walking down to the end of Main Street, it is hard to miss the Matterhorn Bobsleds to the right of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. After last years renovations the ride looks and sounds better than ever. They kept the famous abominable snowmen but added some new twists and made the ride turns much smoother. The ride still has two steel tracks, but they have done away with the two-a-seat bobsleds with individual seats.

 Keeping with the Swiss theme of the ride, there is plenty of yodelers and polka music to listen to while in line. Disneyland makes a big deal about the mountain climbers who are once again ascending and descending the mountain, accompanied periodically updating guests on their “progress.” The occasional daily event commands the attention of everyone around the mountain.

Guests may not have to wait long to try out the new cars though, as the best addition to the Matterhorn Bobsleds is the Single Rider line. Those who don’t mind riding separately from their friends and family a chance to board with little to no waiting, though it will take a bit of searching to find the proper entrance to this new line among the winding queue rows.

Celebrate your “un-birthday” in Wonderland by spinning and twirling in your very own teacup! There are a total of 18 cups that spin individually, on top of 3 separate turntables, on top of one large turntable! It a crazy contraption indeed, but it is Wonderland after all! (After a recent physics experiment, without spinning the actual cup, you will spin about 8 times during the ride, but with spinning you can get up to 23 spins. Ride Profile: Indiana Jones

One of the most exciting rides at Disneyland is based from the popular movies Indiana Jones!  Opening in 1995, after being under construction for 7 years and costing Disney about $100 million! The ride can be found between Jungle Cruise and Pirates of the Carrabin. Since it is a crowd pleaser, the line can get very long, so I highly recommend getting FASTPASS and coming back to the ride later in the afternoon when you can avoid the line. Single rider passes and parent swap passes are also available, just ask the Cast Member at the front. The ride “takes place” in the Forbidden Temple where famous archeologist, Indiana jones, helps guide your’ ride, making sure you make it to the end. Visitors MUST NOT look into the eyes of the temple's idol, Mara, or an ancient curse will befall them. World of Color

One of my absolute favorite things to view is World of Color. A combination of water, pyrotechnics and a lot of magic brings the Paradise Lagoon in California Adventure to life every evening! More than 1,000 water jets form screens and shapes that animations are projected onto. Although I have seen the show dozens of times, it never gets old, especially because as new Disney movies come out, they are incorporated into the show. If visiting both parks (or just DCA), be sure to get a fatspass for World of Color. The machines are right outside Grizzly Rapids and will have one of four colors (red, yellow, green, and blue), which is your viewing area during the show. Be sure to line up in your  specific area as soon as your fastpass tells you you can.
